On March 17, Puerto del Carmen will host the annual celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.

Puerto del Carmen has welcomed 80% of annual visitors from Ireland, underlining the loyalty of Irish tourism.

Lanzarote has once again received the Irish Travel Industry (ITI) Best Winter Sun Destination award for the best sun destination during the winter season.

The Tías City Council once again celebrates that Lanzarote has received the Best Winter Sun Destination award by the Irish Travel Industry (ITI), an initiative of Irish travel agents and tour operators. The Deputy Mayor and Councillor of Tourism, Amado Jesus Vizcaino, was present at this event held in Dublin this week.

For the municipality of Tías, Irish tourism is strategic. This is endorsed by 80 percent of the annual overnight stays of the total of Irish visitors who travel to the island of Lanzarote for the annual enjoyment of their holidays. Of the approximately 495,000 Irish tourists who arrived in the Canary Islands between January and November 2017, almost 250,000 came to Lanzarote, a figure that is 9.7% higher than during the same period of the previous year, which places Ireland as the third country to send tourists to the island, after the United Kingdom and Germany. Puerto del Carmen, the main tourist resort of the island, hosts the largest amount of overnight stays of Irish tourists who travel to the island, points out the Councillor of Tourism, Amado Jesus Vizcaino. The proof, in addition, is the great proliferation of pubs that exist in all of Puerto del Carmen.

For the fifteenth consecutive year, Lanzarote has been awarded the “Best Winter Sun Destination” for the best sun destination in the winter season, during a gala held in Dublin, where Amado Jesus Vizcaino was present. The Irish Travel Industry Awards are the premier awards for suppliers and Travel Agents in Ireland.

During the fair in Dublin, the Tourist Department of the City of Tías promoted Puerto del Carmen as leading holiday destination among the Irish, as well as the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, which will take place on March 17 in the area of El Varadero, in La Tiñosa, Puerto del Carmen.
